“Layers of Time, Place and Memory.”
I have created a still/moving image that explores connections to time, place, and memory. It has a calm and stillness about it, as if time has slowed down, but with a quiet intensity.
This image may appear ordinary at first glance, but with a closer look this may be questioned.
The viewer is encouraged to be drawn into the image with the familiar, and invited to interpret the ideas behind it. The flickering candle illustrates the passage of time, giving it a substance and space. In contrast to the still photograph where time has stopped, a split second becoming an eternity, and an ephemeral moment set in time forever, pulling us back to a time or place.
